I partially grew up in Europe. In the late 80s, I finished 8th grade and left what was then West Germany. When I finally graduated highschool in 1993, I went back to a totally different post cold war Europe. It was a reunified Germany, the Iron Curtain was gone, and Czechoslovakia just became 2 countries.

This is all so wrong…just the German brewery became the royal brewery … there were 2 big breweries.. the German and later the Czech.. the German Budweiser became famous.. and the Czech brewery started to copy the name over 100 years later… the original Budweiser brewery was the “Budweiser Bürgerbräu” and was founded in 1795 …the Czech brewery which is now budvar was founded in 1895… and AB Budweiser in 1876 … the American Budweiser is actually older than the Czech company. After World War I ..the Germans were expelled.. and the original “Budweiser Bürgerbräu” was renamed..and sold Crystal and Samson beer. In 2014 Anheuser Busch bought the Samson Brewery…and basically the original “Budweiser Bürgerbräu” … to make it short… the Czech Budvar is fake… the Budweiser in the US is fake… but the USA bought the original brewery.

My Czech girlfriend is in her mid-30s and has suffered stomach pains, ailments for about a year. Thank you for confirming my suspicions. My Czech girlfriend speaks/write english fluently. I know her parents are very private & closed off. And any of her friends especially male friends absolutely disfavor her relationship with me and dislike me without even meeting me because I am American. My maternal grandmother snd her family lineage originated from there. She always referred to it as Bohemia. Great video!

Made me laugh regarding the Americans and their loudness. I saw some Americans in the wild when I was visiting Santorini (you know, that lovely peaceful and tranquil part of the planet). An argument broke out between these two Americans (who turned out to be Karens) and they were bellowing at each other at the top of their lungs, and threatening to get physical. A few hundred people just stood there, gawping at them in dismay. The Americans, however, were oblivious and couldn't give a rat's behind, haha. One of the most surreal things I've ever witnessed. 😅

You're definitely right about Amsterdam being more dangerous I lived there for 10 years and like you I learned the language, the Dutch really are a bit tight fisted too, don't get me wrong Amsterdam does have its charms but walking around even as a guy at night alone isn't a good idea, the other thing is the Netherlands is really expensive especially eating out and when it comes to beer it's Heineken or Amstel which are the same brewery and aren't that great either, the Germans have much better beer imo, I'm English from Liverpool and apart from our real ales our beer is generally crap too, I lived in Prague for about a year in 1990 just after the velvet revolution I was living in West-Berlin for about 10 years when the wall came down. so I sub let my flat there and moved to Prague, I've been back a few times since but it's not the same city I lived in back then. It's become so touristic that it's difficult to actually meet any Czech people in the centre and it's actually more expensive in some places than here in Liverpool, such a shame I really loved living there and the people were very friendly and kind, I think next time I visit Czechia I'll visit Brno instead, well thanks for your very interesting insights into present day life in Prague, cheers, Jim
